UI DESIGN

Visual clarity and conceptual engagement are the focus of all my UI designs.

Priceless Pointers for Mastercard Clients.

The UI for Mastercard's suite of financial services, tools and widgets needed a certain visual edge to stand out in a competitive landscape. Envisioned as a dynamic dashboard, developing the style and function of the interface required a collaborative iterative process. Early interface elements were built in illustrator. The final look was achieved once the widget icons were rendered by a 3d artist. The evolution of the design from inception to a final sophisticated product was, for me, a fascinating and instructive process. One never knows which elements need to be 'turned up' and which should be 'muted'.

A story that needs to be retold

Developing the look of The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's site was a delicate and demanding challenge. The urge to impress visitors with the somber nature of this subject can push a designer in some dangerously trivial directions. This is a story of people's fates, reflecting that aspect by utilizing a ubiquitous social media timeline structure felt like an opportunity to place the victim's tragic fates in a modern context, thus focusing on them as individuals.  Finding a way to use the layout-grid-lines as a reference to the very real bars that confined the victims was a way to solidify the design without adding unnecessary and potentially offensive decorative elements.

A Site Fit For a Global Giant

A truly global site for a global brand needs to be scalable. Different markets have their unique requirements or restrictions. During MRM's relationship with General Motors my team was tasked with designing just such a site. Our concept utilized a modular grid that would allow content areas to expand and push other pieces of content to the sides of the browser.
